Oh, by the way....how are you doing?

Have you ever felt that you focus most of your energy on other people and their problems that you are shocked when you are asked how you are doing with things?  Or when the shift of priorities sheds its light on you and dims others in the shadows?  Well, that's how I've been the past few days, or at least how I've seen it.

Last week, I went from having a full head of hair to pretty much nothing.  This was a major shock to my system as I haven't seen myself this way in quite some time and of course, people reacted.  But they really didn't react the way I thought they would.  I was waiting to hear comments like, "What the hell did you do that for?" or "I liked you better the other way."  But what I got was, "I like this look a lot better" and "I don't think it looks bad at all".

Honestly, I'm a semi-vain person, but really, in this day and age, who isn't?  I'll be the first to say I'm an ageist through and through and hate the fact that as people we all have to get older.  And being practically bald doesn't make me look any younger anymore, needless to say, I look my age.  My good friend Taz described me as a hot looking 'Guido' type, due to my lack of hair and my deep tan.  But through all the comments I've gotten thus far on my 'new' look, I've learned something.  A person's looks are only a tiny microcosm of their lives.  It's their personality and how they show their confidence through their life experience that make them handsome, beautiful or whatever adjective you wish to insert here, lol.

I was having coffee about 1 week and a half ago with my very good buddy Nick and I asked him about a girl that he had just started talking to and after he told me how things were going he asked me, "So, how's things going for you?"  I was kind of shocked actually, as strange as that may seem.  In today's world, people are so egocentric and tend to focus on themselves instead of other people, which is why I was shocked.  The fact that Nick took the few seconds out to ask me how I was doing made me feel good :)

Another good week in the good ole' summertime!
