The Power of Sign

Communication is as basic of a skill as any we're born with.  As natural as any other of our God-given talents, the ability to communicate is something that without it, we would all be lost.  We use our words every second of the day to convey our feelings, wishes, commands, etc.  But what happens when you can't get your messages across by word of mouth?  There is a wonderful and awesome language out there known as American Sign Language or ASL.  This is a language all it's own and contrary to popular belief, it's not all that hard to learn.  ASL has it's roots cemented in the year 1814, where Thomas Gallaudet taught his daughter, who was deaf, how to speak using a language form of non-spoken words.  This would later become what is known as ASL.

Like I said above, this language is not all that hard to understand or learn.  For myself, I always wanted to learn how to sign.  I was always amazed at people who could do it and execute effectively and fast!  As I learned, I started to branch my learning out into signing songs.  This became a hobby of mine from time to time and one day did a search on Youtube and quickly found out that many other people in the world have this same pasttime.  Signing a song is actually more difficult than signing a sentence or spoken words due to the fact that everything is very faced paced (depending on the song).  Here are a few examples:

This is one of those hobbies that the mood has to strike you at the right time to do it.  But careful research, the right song and patience are the right mixture to a successful signed song!  Here's a few of my songs:

"Smile" by Uncle Kracker

"Maybe" by Sick Puppies

HAPPY SIGNING!
